THE MOST VALUABLE PROFESSIONAL
According to Microsoft, the Most Valuable Professional (MVP) is an award given to exceptional, independent community leaders who share their passion, technical expertise, and real-world knowledge of Microsoft products with others.
However, the definition et al is relative and akin to what an MVP really means. We can therefore say on a general note, that an MVP is someone, a group of people, or a body(institution) who have shown extreme knowledge and or expertise either in various disciplines or an outstanding exceptional expertise in a particular field; and is able to impact same on other individuals/or community. The whole idea behind the Most Valuable professionals is identifying people in technological, socio-cultural, legal, and economic community who are active participants and are always willing to share their experiences and knowledge, pertaining to particular or general areas of specialty with other stakeholders in the community.
When it comes to career advancement, the biggest question has to do with your value to the organization as a professional. What are you doing to contribute to the bottom line? Remember, as an employee, you’re an investment. Your company pays you salary and expects a return. The more value you contribute, the better the investment and the more likely they are to continue investing in the future-and potentially invest in a bigger way. That means raises, promotions and job security for you.
As a professional in your field, there are six things you always need to have at the back of your mind that would make you add value to your organization or anywhere you find yourself; they include but are not limited to the following:
1. Save money
2. Make money
3. Improve efficiency of a process or procedure
4. Improve quality of a product or service
5. Fix an existing problem
6. Prevent a future problem
